Last Sunday, Ecuador defeated the hosts of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar 2-0 in the opening match.

Educational centers in Ecuador will be able to interrupt classes so that students can enjoy the matches of the Ecuadorian team in the World Cup in Qatar in their classrooms, according to a statement from the country’s Ministry of Education issued this Thursday.

The regular activities of said institutions may be suspended until the end of the event sports, but under certain conditions, such as the prohibition to enter the facilities for people outside the school or college and to consume alcohol or other prohibited substances.

The ministerial authorization has “the purpose of providing to the sense of belonging, national unity and Ecuadorian pride“, according to the Government.

The announcement was made less than 24 hours before Ecuador faces Netherlands in the second day of Group A of the World Cup, in a match that will begin this Friday at 11:00 (local time).

A similar circumstance will take place in the Latin American country next Tuesday, when the national team will face Senegal in a match that for Ecuador will be at 10:00 in the morning.

The last Sunday, Ecuador beat Qatar with a score of 2-0 in the opening match of the World Cup for Group A.
