The defendants were apprehended in the “Phishing” operation, carried out by the Public Ministry in conjunction with the National Police, on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, where various search procedures were carried out in different parts of the provinces of Panama, Panama West and Columbus.

This investigation is carried out when a significant number of complaints for this crime have been received this year, where the modality consists of sending, through technological or computer means, text messages, WhatsApp, links and emails, with the purpose of their victims deceptively give them keys and passwords for their bank accounts, to later steal the money belonging to said accounts.
