More than a decade has passed since Mike and Zara Tindall they said “yes”. It was in July 2011 that the former British rugby player and daughter of the princess A-N-A got married and live happily with their three children, Miaeight years old, Lenafour, and the little one Lucasa year and a half.
However, there was a member of Mike’s family who did not show much enthusiasm for the marriage: the player’s maternal grandmother did not want her grandson to become part of the British royal family.
“He started playing for England in 2000 and it wasn’t long before he met and moved in with Zara. the mother of Beautiful [mãe de Mike], Mike’s maternal grandmother, was totally against it. In her time, royalty married royalty and she thought marriage would be avoided.”referred Philfather of Mike Tindall, in an interview with The Times🇧🇷
“But from the start the whole family was lovely. Sometimes we would all go out to lunch with Zara’s mum on a Sunday before going home”, added Phil, who admitted to some difficulties fitting into the royal circle. “We spent a lot of time with Zara’s dad too. Harry used to watch rugby matches too, so slowly and quietly we got to know them all – and that was it for a few years.”
At the end Phil added that even though Mike’s grandmother didn’t get to know Mike’s wife well, they are sure he would have loved her. “Linda’s mum died before she could meet Zara, but I know she would have loved her as much as we do because she and Mike are perfect for each other. What one begins, the other ends; they are a fantastic team.”
