In August, the ice hockey icon announced Börje Salming that he suffered from ALS. Today, November 24, he has passed away at the age of 71, which Toronto Maple Leafs confirms.
Börje Salming made his last public appearance at the “Hockey Gala of the Times” last week and before that he was celebrated in Toronto.
Sweden remembers the Swedish hockey legend with warmth and the condolences are many.
The comedian’s words after Börje Salming’s passing
At the same time as Börje Salming is widely praised – there are some who are a bit harsh after Salming’s death.
A while after the tragic news of Börje’s death, the comedian published Marcus Thapper a post on Twitter that didn’t really go down well with everyone: “Börje died while doing what he had loved since childhood: gaping big“.
The post was soon deleted and Marcus published a new post and wrote the following:
“Jag is a comedian and comes from a tradition of making too-soon jokes. Had a few beers live when the news broke, we talked about how awful it was and then the tweet was pulled. It was stupid, clumsy, or bad, so I removed it. Sorry. Takes you like varnishes!“
The comedian Eric Sporrong then took the opportunity to comment on Marcus’ new Twitter post and wrote “Love you” with a heart emoji.
When News24 contacts the comedian Marcus Thapper, he refers to a new Twitter post and believes that it (Börje) was not his thing to joke about.
“My close family has suffered from shit too and I’ve joked about it now and then. So I deal with shit. However, I realized that this went wrong and wasn’t my business to joke about, so I deleted it immediately and try to explain that I’m not standing behind myself here“.
