Former cyclist and former sports director Vincent Belda Vicedoyour son Vincent Belda GarciaAstana team masseuse, and Colombian cyclist Miguel Angel Lopez are some of those investigated in the plot dedicated to the distribution of prohibited drugs for doping of athletes and that has dismantled the Central Operative Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard.

As sources close to the investigation have indicated to EFE, Belda and her son were related to the doctor and professor at the University of Extremadura (UNEX). Mark Maynarwho was arrested last May for, among other alleged crimes, illegal drug trafficking and who was released by a judge with charges after testifying in Court number 4 of Cáceres.

Vázquez Iglesias, also implicated

Another of those investigated, in this case in the Basque Country, is the exclist Angel Vazquez Iglesiaswho was sanctioned in 2007 for doping until 2010, but even so, he came to participate in some competitions before the term of his sanction ended.

Apparently, Vázquez Iglesias recruited young people to send them as clients to Maynar, among them a minor federated in a provincial swimming federation.

The investigation remains open with the collaboration of security forces from other countries to which shipments of these prohibited medicines have been made.
