As of the morning of November 24, 70% of Kyiv remains without electricity. This was stated by the mayor of the city Vitali Klitschko.

According to Klitschko, the authorities are doing everything to return the light “as soon as possible”, but the exact timing will depend on the restoration of balance in the energy system of Ukraine.

Klitschko also said that on the left bank of the Dnieper in Kyiv, water supply had already been returned; on the right it is planned to be restored in the morning.

Kyiv was left without water and electricity as a result of a massive shelling of Ukrainian critical infrastructure that occurred on the afternoon of November 23. Emergency shutdowns occurred in all regions of Ukraine; Kyiv, Odessa and Chernihiv regions were completely de-energized.

Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vitaly Nebenzya said at an emergency meeting of the Security Council that the strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure were being carried out “in response to the pumping of this country with Western weapons and reckless calls from Kyiv to win a military victory over Russia.”
