The French National Assembly has voted this Thursday in favor of the inclusion of the right to abortion in the Constitution. The proposal has been supported by 337 parliamentarians and has only had a total of 32 votes against. This vote is considered as a first stage to shield this right in the Gallic country.
The initiative, initially proposed by ‘La Francia Insumisa’, has been supported and ultimately agreed to by the party of the French president, Emmanuel Macron. The vote has had the support of all progressive forces, the liberals and a good part of the conservatives.
For it to become part of the Constitution, the road is still difficult, the Senate must now adopt it in the same terms in which it was approved in the Lower House, reports efe. There is the possibility of speeding up the process through a bill presented by the Government. The text was intended to respond to the lack of doctors available to care for patients and the gradual closure of centers that practice abortion. The law had awakened a strong opposition by the right.
Victory!

“Victoria The Assembly approves our amendment: The law guarantees the effectiveness and equal access to the right to voluntary interruption of pregnancy. Thanks to the LFI group and all the elected officials and activists, who made this historic event possible,” he said in their social networks Jean-Luc Mélenchondeputy of the Unsubmissive France.
In similar terms expressed the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Morettiwhich highlighted the historical nature of the measure. “It is a historic day that marks a fundamental stage for the right to abortion, so that women can dispose of their bodies.” Similarly, Mathilde Panotleader of the LFI ranks, pointed out that this vote is a tribute to women from European countries such as Poland and Hungary, where the right to voluntary termination of pregnancy is highly restricted.
After the aforementioned vote, the deputies from the left and from the Government stood up on two occasions to applaud while the conservative bench remained seated. In France, abortion is currently authorized until the end of the 14th week of pregnancy.
The Law has been approved a month after the failure of the motion of censure of the left supported by Le Pen against the French Government. The sum of the National Group on the left did not reach the 289 deputies necessary for it to have succeeded.
there will be bulls
The French National Assembly was debating today a bill to ban bullfights throughout the country, at the proposal of an environmental deputy framed in the leftist Nupes coalition.
The proposal had to be withdrawn due to the lack of parliamentary support at the request of its own promoter. “Today it is not possible to abolish the bullfight in France,” lamented Caron in the French Assembly, who denounced the “obstruction” maneuvers of hundreds of “ridiculous” amendments. The deputy, however, announced that he will present a new “cross-party” proposal, without specifying when.
According to the aforementioned parliamentarian, nine out of ten French people are in favor of supporting the processing of this law. With less than 200 supporters, they had the vote against the Government.
