It was only a matter of time before Abarth had to follow suit: Fiat brought the sporty offshoots of its brand icon 500 to the power outlet. Scorpion Street is the standard level and is also designed for one-pedal driving. The Abarth 500e then provides full performance in Scorpion Track mode. But the Abarth of the electric age has to have a tooth pulled: the electronics put an end to further impetuous forward thrust at a top speed of 155 km/h. The Abarth 500e has an 85 kW fast charging system. It promises electricity for about 40 kilometers in less than five minutes, and the battery is said to be 80 percent full in just over half an hour. For the home, the parent company Stellantis offers a plug-and-play wall box for the socket. The standard range for the small Stromer is 250 kilometres. The convertible has a spoiler integrated into the top, the sedan has tinted rear windows. The 500e made its debut as a fully equipped Launch Edition “Scorpionissima” in either acid green or poison blue. The number of vehicles is limited to 1949 (the year the Abarth brand was founded). Among other things, there is a certificate of authenticity, exclusive side stripes and special 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, as well as a fixed glass roof for the sedan. The introductory model will initially be offered to over 160,000 members of the Abarth community “The Scorpionship” worldwide in an exclusive, one-month pre-reservation phase. The sedan costs 43,000 euros in Germany, the convertible 46,000 euros (prices for Austria will follow). The market launch of the Abarth 500e is scheduled for June. (Jens Riedel/cen)
