Violent accident on the A3 near Oberhausen! On Thursday morning (November 24th) three people died in a traffic accident on the motorway towards Arnhem. According to initial information from the police, the driver of a trailer truck lost control of his vehicle and collided with a car.

The A3 near Oberhausen is completely closed in the direction of Arnhem due to the salvage and repair work. Police expect the closure to last until tomorrow (November 25).

A3 near Oberhausen: trucks suddenly across all three lanes

It is not yet known why the man lost control of the truck. The police are currently investigating whether the 46-year-old suffered an internal emergency while driving – medical emergencies such as heart attacks or strokes are meant.

The driver from Kamp-Lintfort is said to have been on the A3 in the direction of Arnhem on Thursday morning. At the Oberhausen-Lirich junction, he suddenly crossed all three lanes from right to left and drove into a Mercedes in which a 33-year-old man from Düsseldorf was sitting with his 88-year-old passenger. All three occupants of the vehicle were seriously injured.

After the collision of the two vehicles, the semi-trailer driver crashed into the central barrier. To rescue the injured and for the clean-up work, the A3 was completely closed in the direction of Arnhem between Oberhausen-Lirch and Duisburg-Wedau. Traffic is currently backed up here for more than four kilometers.

A3 near Oberhausen: Direction Cologne also restricted

But even in the direction of Cologne, drivers currently have to be patient on the A3. Due to the collision with the middle barrier, the left lane of the opposite direction also had to be closed. Traffic is currently backed up here for about five kilometers. The closure is expected to last until around 6 p.m.

Drivers from the Ruhr area who are traveling on the A3 near Oberhausen will probably have to be patient until Friday (November 25th). The police advise avoiding the motorway completely today if possible.
