The surgery lasted 10 hours and was performed in two parts.first with the patient awake, the coordinates of the brain were identified to know where the neurostimulator would be implanted.

Later with Carlos awake and the perforation in the skull wires were placed in the brain that emit mild electrical stimuli synchronized.

Once this was done, the patient was anesthetized to perform a subcutaneous tunnel type surgery from the skull to the chest to install the stimulator battery on the pectoral.

“After the surgical intervention, the battery is connected via WiFi to an electronic tablet to verify functionalityd of the neurostimulator placed in the patient’s brain. The rechargeable battery has a duration of 15 years”, informed the IMSS.
