Advisor to the General Director of Rosenergoatom, Renat Karchaa, announced that the distillate tanks at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant were damaged due to shelling by Ukrainian troops.

In an interview with Then24, Karchaa said that “there are containers with distillates between the fourth and fifth power units.”

“It was they (IAEA experts) who called it a non-radioactive leak,” he said.

Karchaa also noted that in order to determine the severity of an incident, a combination of factors must be taken into account.

Among other things, he said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine broke part of the cooling system and structures in the spray pools.

Earlier, the chairman of the movement “We are together with Russia”, Volodymyr Rogov, said that the allied forces destroyed Ukrainian equipment at positions from which Energodar and the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant were shelled.

Prior to this, experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency examined the state of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, which had suffered from shelling, and reported significant damage to the plant.
