Proclinic Group, a comprehensive provider of solutions for the dental sector, has invested around 16 million euros to automate and robotize your logistics platform in Zaragoza.

Facilities with an area of ​​12,000 square meters in which it has doubled its order handling capacity. Specifically, the fully automated process makes it possible to deal with more than 30,000 picking lines per day and cover more than 60,000 references. A capacity that is already being worked on, confirms Jean Bouchet, Logistics Director of the Proclinic Group, to the Economist

The company, leader in its sector in Spain, has equipped the facilities with a state-of-the-art picking system with algorithms that optimize the management of orders from the location of all the elements of the order, as well as the volumetric sizing of each request.

The technology implemented also has other advantages such as the indication of the shortest circuit for the preparation of the sale and the choice of the most suitable shipping boxes for each shipment.

With this system, the Proclinic Group logistics platform has gained in precision, since all the merchandise in the warehouse goes through a volumetric control, which is recorded in the product file, facilitating the optimization of the process.

In addition, the platform is designed to process the entire flow it manages and is capable of transporting shipments for subsequent documentation, closing, labelling, classification and palletizing.

within the technologies implementeds, for example, highlights the Compact System Technology, also adapted for extra-dimensional loads; Miniload Technology for handling plastic buckets, and the high-speed transport system. Likewise, an area for high turnover references with advanced technology has been introduced.

From Zaragoza to Europe

The investment undertaken -close to 2.1 million euros corresponds to the 2022 financial year-, allows Proclinic Group to have facilities in Zaragoza comparable to those of other technology and electronic commerce giants.

In fact, from these facilities -it was the first dental distributor to have an automated logistics plant-, it is possible to serve in 24 hours and with a service level of 99% to the company’s key European markets.

Specifically, from this logistics platform in Zaragoza, Proclinic Group serves 31 countrieswhich are located mainly in southern and central Europe such as Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom and Ireland, apart from supplying other countries “beyond the European border”, adds the director of Logistics.

Robotization has not led to a reduction in the workforce. “A team of more than 50 people works in the logistics platform, to which must be added the support staff for logistics services, such as request management, maintenance, coordination, returns… Due to the growth of our logistics services, it has become has been creating employment progressively. We have gone from a warehouse managed by 17 people to a logistics plant where more than 50 people work64 if support services staff are included,” explains Jean Bouchet.

Automation and robotization have allowed people to focus on providing value-added services instead of occupying mechanical positions

“The growth of the Proclinic Group, 25% in 2021, has led, as is logical, an increase in the workforce of the Zaragoza logistics center that, instead of occupying mechanical positions, are providing value-added services, both to support logistics to automation as well as accompanying the dental professional in technical assistance, training, visits and advice”, says the manager.

In this way, Bouchet states that “automation and robotization are at the service of people. It allows us to invest in human resources so that the people of the Proclinic Group can deliver the best of ourselves to those who care for everyone’s oral health”.

In addition, the platform also has offices where activities are carried out in various areas such as IT or compliance, apart from locating the technical, administration, procurement or commercial departments, among others.

In expansion

The Zaragoza logistics center is not the only one belonging to the Proclinic Group, which in turn has the Exotec warehouse, in France, and the Meditrans warehousea company that it recently acquired and whose facilities are strategic in the center of Europe.

With the recent acquisition of this Polish company, Proclinic Group advances in the consolidation of its activity in Europe and adds a staff of 500 employees and a turnover of more than 200 million of euros.
