Already on November 24, the main favorite of the tournament, the Brazilian national team, will start at the World Cup in Qatar. The final result of the pentacameons will largely depend on the game of their main star Neymar, who has recently been hit by a lot of trouble, recalls our partner edition “Playmaker”.

Less than a month before the start of the 2022 World Cup, Neymar was finally able to breathe a little. The Brazilian faced a Spanish prison and a fine of 10 million euros for tax fraud, but the court dropped all charges against him.

The lawsuit dragged on from Neymar’s move from Santos to Barcelona in 2013. The prosecutor’s office argued that the parties underestimated the real amount of the transfer in order not to pay the share of the company DIS, which owned 40 percent of the rights to the Brazilian.

Neymar himself, at a trial in Barcelona in October, said that he “did not personally participate in the negotiations, signing everything that his father asked to sign.” As a result, everyone was justified. However, the stress experienced may well affect the scorer’s game for the national team, with which he has not been very good at major tournaments so far.

However, there is another problem. After winning the October presidential elections in Brazil, the leader of the left, Lula da Silva, said that his rival Jair Bolsonaro had made a deal with Neymar. Namely, he offered the footballer to write off taxes in the amount of 17 million euros in exchange for public support.

Much has been written about this story in the Brazilian media – and again it went to Neymar’s father. He allegedly became an intermediary between his son and Bolsonaro. The football player actually recorded a video calling to vote for the incumbent president. According to him, he did it disinterestedly. But few believed him…

Bolsonaro, by the way, is often called the “Brazilian Trump”: he is a far-right politician, a defender of traditional values, who has a reputation as a homophobe and sexist. Right now he is trying to challenge the results of the 2022 elections. But if Lula’s victory stands, the attack on Neymar is sure to continue. The new president promised to get things going. And all this, of course, brings the star of PSG and the Brazilian national team out of himself. Meanwhile, at the club, Neymar periodically clashes with Kylian Mbappe. Another reason to be nervous.

However, the numbers speak in favor of Neymar. In the 2022/23 season, the Brazilian shows phenomenal football: 15 goals and 12 assists in 20 matches for PSG. He also scored for the national team in preparation for the 2022 World Cup (though only from penalties). “Our leader is in great shape! He sacrificed a lot and worked every day, preparing for the World Cup in Qatar, ”Marquinhos, a teammate and colleague of Neymar on the national team, convinces journalists.

In Qatar, the super striker of the Brazilians can break the record of the legendary Pele for goals for the national team. The King of Football has 77 of them, while Neymar has 75 so far. “I could not even dream of such a thing. I never think about numbers. I just try to play good football, ”Ney was modest before going to the 2022 World Cup. But there is no doubt that he will try to beat Pele’s record already at the World Cup group stage, in which Brazil will play with Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon.

Already in Qatar, Neymar posted a photo on social networks – decorating his shorts with the emblem of the national team with the sixth star for winning the World Cup. The German publication Bild described this post with the headline “First bout of arrogance.” However, another Brazilian star striker Richarilson immediately stood up for Neymar: “Let the journalist who came up with this headline go to hell. We all, not just Neymar, came to Qatar for the sixth star. Whether someone likes it or not.”

The bookies, by the way, agree. It is Brazil that is considered the main favorite of the tournament.

According to Neymar, inside the trio from PSG (Lionel Messi, who had already managed to survive the fiasco in the match with Saudi Arabia, Mbappe, who started the tournament with a goal, an assist and a crushing victory over Australia, plus Neymar himself) before flying to Qatar, the topic was actively discussed World Cup 2022.

– I told Messi that I would beat him in the final and become world champion. Everyone laughed, – admitted the leader of the Brazilian national team.

And how it turns out in reality, we’ll see. November 24, Neymar will play with Serbia.
