In conversation with actress Michaela J. Rodriguez on her podcast “Archetypes”, Meghan Markle spoke of her mother, Doria Ragland, and the affectionate name by which her mother calls her, even at the age of 41.
At one point in the conversation, the trans actress who gained popularity in the series “Pose”, spoke of the impact that the nicknames we gain as a child have on the way others see us, or how we become trapped to these nicknames, and it is then that Meghan interrupts and with an amused air reveals:
‘Yes, exactly. My mother still calls me Flor”, she confesses. And when the actress asks her if she doesn’t like that her mother continues to call her that, Harry’s wife reinforces the idea and plays with the fact that she is no longer a child: “Yes, I do! I’ll be a 41-year-old flower, but that’s okay,” she joked.
Doria Ragland, 66, who lives in Los Angeles, near the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, even has a floral tattoo on her arm. Meghan and her mother have always had a very close and supportive relationship.
The same is not true of her father, Thomas Markle, with whom she does not speak and who was not even present at her daughter’s wedding to Prince Harry.
