The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mali, Youssouf Bathily, its secretary general Cheick Oumar Camara and its accountant, Lamine Sacko, were all placed in police custody yesterday Tuesday by an investigating judge from the Economic and financier of Bamako.
The information of the custody of the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Evil and his collaborators fell yesterday Tuesday morning. The three personalities are, according to a concordant source, in a case of “attack on public property” in connection with the management of a COVID-19 fund which amounts to 10 billion CFA francs. It is a report by the Office of the Auditor General which has noted financial irregularities and dysfunctions in the management of these COVID-19 funds allocated to the chamber of commerce.
A year ago, this file was the subject of transmission and denunciation by the Auditor General to the President of the Supreme Court and to the Public Prosecutors near the high courts of Commune III of the district of Bamako, Mopti and Kayes, in charge of the Economic and Financial Pole. According to the report of the vegal, the facts concern “markets for the acquisition of masks by the CCIM without a contract for 9,462,500,000 FCFA and registration fees and regulatory fees not required by the CCIM for 378,087,500 FCFA”. Today, justice suspects the responsibility of the President of the Chamber of Commerce and his two collaborations in mismanagement in the execution of this fund market in connection with COVID-19.
