In his opinion, “unfortunately, the conversation has dragged on too long. It seems to me that we are already at the defining moment”. And, regarding this, he detailed some of the aspects in which progress has been made. “We have talked three times. First, establish institutional principles that feed the constituent debate. There is the social and democratic State of law, the right to property, among others. There are 12 elements that we have defined in these conversations that are essential to safeguard”.

The deputy, Ibáñez pointed out that within the conversations that have been held is the idea of ​​forming “a joint committee of experts, elected by Congress, where no one has a substantive majority, which will allow these principles to be safeguarded at some point. Let him be a kind of referee.”

And, precisely, this last one is the one that fears that has trapped the discussion and any possibility of advancing quickly. Ibáñez referred to the opposition’s idea that Congress be the body that determines who will be the members of the so-called Committee of Experts. “It may seem illegitimate to a lot of people and therefore That fracture between the political and the social cannot be deepened. We have a commitment that we must respect, which is the popular mandate to give continuity to the process.”
