Dorfgastein does not have a direct lift connection to the Kieserl.

The plans for the second ski link between Grossarl and Dorfgastein are now also becoming more concrete on the Dorfgastein side. In the future, a 10-seater gondola lift will lead from the middle station of the Fulseckbahn to the Kieserl. Means: There will be no lift from the Maierhofen district to the 1953-metre mountain, says Gerhard Lindorfer, CEO of the Großarltal Dorfgastein AG ski circuit. “That was the original plan, but we haven’t been following it since 2020,” says Lindorfer. The middle station solution was now used; That also makes more sense with regard to summer operations. The cable car operators are in a hurry with the construction: cable car technicians are currently planning that the cable car could go into operation as early as 2024. Around 13 million euros are to flow for the new lift connection. On the Grossarl side, things are a little further: As reported, work on the second ski area began there in mid-August. Now the work has been stopped due to the snow. “In March we will remove the existing 8-seater gondola, in April the construction work will continue,” says Lindorfer – the new Kieserl gondola should be ready by the start of the 2023/24 season.
