The F1 teams have stayed a little longer in Abu Dhabi after the last race of the 2022 season. One last day of testing was scheduled at the Yas Marina Circuit.

Pirelli’s prototype tires for 2023 have already been tested. It was also the perfect opportunity – albeit mandatory – to use a driver with less experience.

But it was mainly looking forward to some new faces in the paddock and some older faces in new overalls. For example, Fernando Alonso (41) got behind the wheel of an Aston Martin for the first time.

His replacement at Alpine, Pierre Gasly, made his debut with the French racing stable. Nyck de Vries, who takes over Gasly’s place at AlphaTauri, was also present.

Oscar Piastri (McLaren), Logan Sargeant (Williams) and Nico Hülkenberg (Haas) were also introduced to their new team.

Still, it was the veteran Ferrari drivers who topped the tables, with Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc and Ferrari junior Robert Schwartzman in 1, 2 and 3.
