'Avatar 2', everything we know about the sequels of James Cameron

James Cameron returns to theaters on December 16. The second part of the highest-grossing film in history has been waiting for more than a decade, but it’s here. ‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’ It is the official name of Avatar 2 and its final trailer has already been shown.

We will see Colonel Quaritch (Stephen Lang) again as the antagonist of the Sully family, starring Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña). A return to Pandora that will have water as its main protagonist, both for its underwater battles and for being the central element on which the whole story will revolve.

The return to Pandora 13 years later

‘The Sense of Water’ takes place a decade after the events of the first film. In the complete final trailer we see a large part of the impressive scenes of the film, from those that take us underwater to the surface of the planet. Avatar focuses on the dynamism that water allowsfrom underwater battles to trips with marine animals.

James Cameron was introduced to Polynesian cultures in 2013 and has dreamed of making an underwater film ever since. ‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’ is the result of that idea. Beyond the scenarios, the trailer shows the family’s meeting with a new clan, the Metkayinawhich will bring conflicts and adaptation problems.

It will not be the only Avatar movie that we will have soon. ‘Avatar 2’ and ‘Avatar 3’ (2024) have been shot sequentially and a fourth and fifth installment are already planned, initially for 2026 and 2028 respectively. Next December 16 we will leave doubts if this second installment lives up to expectations.
