Powerful statement from two journalists. BBC analyst Alex Scott and ZDF commentator Claudia Neumann today countered FIFA from the stadium. One wore the “forbidden” One Love captain’s armband, the other wore a rainbow shirt during the broadcast.
It was intended that the captains of seven European countries, including the Red Devils, would play with the One Love captain’s band.
On Monday, however, FIFA made it clear that the symbol pro the rights of the LGBT+ community was not welcome on the field and would be punished.
The Belgians, but also the English and Germans gave way.
BBC analyst Alex Scott was the first not to do so. The ex-Arsenal and national team player appeared on the edge of the field with the much-discussed band.
Later in the day, ZDF commentator Claudia Neumann would also send a strong signal. She presented in a rainbow shirt and captain’s armband.
