Hulst will be the 1st cyclocross race of the season for Mathieu van der Poel this Sunday, who already showed on Strava last weekend that he is preparing for the cross season.

“On Sunday Mathieu will start a series of cyclo-cross races that should ensure that he starts the World Cup in Hoogerheide in top shape,” his Alpecin-Deceuninck team said.

After Hulst, Van der Poel will also start in Boom and Antwerp at the beginning of December. From 5 to 14 December, he and his team mates will go to Spain for a team internship.

The Christmas period is traditionally busy, with 9 cyclo-cross races between December 17 and January 8, followed by another team training camp in Spain. He must ensure that Van der Poel is completely ready for the World Cup, early January in Hoogerheide. Before that, the Dutchman drives at least one cyclocross.
