The Chamber of Deputies and Deputies dispatched the 2023 Budget project to the Senate last week. The President of the Upper House, alvaro elizalde (PS), indicated that the vote in the Corporation had “a logic of brave bars.”

The discussion in the Lower House caused controversy, since legislators rejected security and human rights-related items. On this last point, they denied the budgets of the National Institute of Human Rights (INDH) and the National Service of Cultural Heritage, on which the Museum of Memory, Londres 38, Villa Grimaldi, among other institutions, depend.

“The resources for human rights institutions have also been rejected, therefore, I believe that the Senate must operate with a different logic,” added the president of the Upper House.

The finance minister, Mario Marcel, advanced last week that they will correct some matters in the Senate. “As we know, there is particularly the rejection of the item corresponding to the Ministry of the Interior and we also have the case of the National Board of Assistance for Scholarships, CONAF and the Heritage Service. All of this will be subject to indications when the project is entered into the Senate,” he said.

The Senate Chamber will discuss the 2023 Budget on November 22, 23 and 24. The deadline for Congress to dispatch the project expires on November 29.
