In order to protect minors, Meta has implemented new functions, both in Facebook like on Instagramwhich are focused on safeguard the integrity of infants and adolescents under 18 years of age.

In this last year, Meta has been concerned with enabling different tools focused on the protection of data and personal information of its users. Now the company mark zuckerberg has announced that, as of this day, it has added new updates aimed at minors who have accounts on Facebook and Instagram.

According to senior Meta officials, the objective of the new functionalities that will be available to children under 18 years of age (in some cases 16 years of age) are to increase the safety of the younger public that browses said virtual platforms.

One of the things that the new updates on Facebook and Instagram will do is Do not show suspicious adults to this underage audience in the recommendations section of users they might know.

In this sense, Meta detailed that a “suspicious adult” may be one that has been previously reported by an adolescent or a minor in general. For this, the corporate recalled in previous years, they sent information on how inappropriate messages from adults are handled.

“In just one month in 2021, more than 100 million people saw security notices on Messenger,” Zuckerberg’s company details in a statement.

Also, added to the above, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram announced that it is removing the “message” button on underage profilesThis is for those over the age of 18 who are suspicious when they visit their accounts.
