It is the first Christmas after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The British royals said goodbye to the monarch in September, since then King Charles III. the new head of the family. And while he honors his mother’s reign, he made it clear that he wants some changes, too.

King Charles III – Christmas should be so different

When it came to royal etiquette, Queen Elizabeth II knew no exceptions. The monarch adhered to formalities, correct appearance and traditions until her last appointment, two days before her death. Apparently, Christmas was no exception. As Royals expert Jennie Bond revealed in an interview, Prince William and Co. are said to have curtsied or bowed to the Queen in private.

A gesture that could not happen this year for the first time. This time, the family get-together on the Sandringham property in Norfolk is to be much more relaxed and less formal, Bond said in an interview with “OK” magazine.

King Charles III wants to record Christmas speech

But the new monarch does not only want to break with the formality, but also with a long-standing tradition in which the family always watched the Queen’s Christmas speech together on TV. Instead, the family should remember the times with the deceased. For his speech, King Charles III, like Queen Elizabeth II, is planning to record the video in advance.
