In times of rising food prices and empty shelves, Edeka has good news for all coffee lovers – but one detail is likely to annoy customers.
Big change in the coffee range at Edeka! The coffee capsule system from the CoffeeB brand is coming to the stores of the supermarket chain. According to the company, it is the first coffee capsule system that does not require capsules and was presented in Zurich at the beginning of September. So far, the coffee capsules are only available in Switzerland and France. And now they are coming to Germany too!
Edeka: Customers have to be patient
It actually sounds good, doesn’t it? But one detail should annoy customers quite a bit: the coffee capsules will only be available from Edeka from April 2023. The supermarket itself announced this in a press release.
“The small ball of pressed coffee, covered only by a patented protective layer, will be available in participating Edeka stores in Germany from April 2023,” the statement said.
Edeka wants to do something for the environment
With the new coffee capsule system, Edeka wants to do something in terms of sustainability, as the company emphasizes. “As part of Edeka’s sustainable orientation, CoffeeB is a great addition to our product portfolio. The innovative zero-waste coffee system shares our goal of reducing resource consumption. With this cooperation, we are making a further contribution to preserving not only enjoyment, but above all nature and the environment for future generations,” explains Markus Mosa, CEO of Edeka Central Foundation & Co. KG, Hamburg.
CoffeeB’s coffee capsules create no waste. According to the press release, the protective layer is of natural origin and is therefore “completely garden compostable”. The coffee capsules are used in conjunction with the specially developed coffee machine. Consumers can choose a different strength level.
