These dogs were lucky in their misfortune…

Plane crash in the USA! On board: 53 dogs and three people. The plane crashed on Tuesday (November 15) on a snow-covered golf course in the US state of Wisconsin.

Dog: plane lands on landing gear

The light plane was en route from New Orleans to Waukesha County Airport — with a cargo hold full of crated puppies. They should be taken to different animal shelters. But then the accident happened: the plane crashed about 6.5 kilometers after take-off! The plane landed on its landing gear and slid across the ground.

“This was a relatively catastrophic landing,” Matthew Haerter, deputy fire chief, was quoted as saying by the English-language online portal “Buzzfeed News”. “As they fell through the trees, a wing came off the plane and came to a halt several hundred meters away.”

Dogs get off lightly

The fire brigade rushed to the scene of the accident. Golf players present provided first aid. Fuel spilled onto the golf course. However, most of the kerosene was stored in the wings. Fortunately, the fuselage did not pose an explosion risk. The cause of the crash is now being investigated by the Federal Aviation Authority.

The three people on board were taken to hospital with injuries. There was no danger to life. But none of the puppies were seriously injured. The animals were treated by veterinarians on site and were taken to various animal shelters.

Cute: rescuer adopts dog

“The dogs are all doing remarkably well,” said a spokeswoman for an animal welfare organization. “Physically, they’ve only sustained a few scratches, but we’re not sure how they’re dealing with it behaviorally.”

The animal welfare organization itself took in 21 of the puppies that died. Four of them have now found a new home. A firefighter who rescued the dogs from the plane at the scene also adopted one of the puppies, according to Buzzfeed News.
