Paul Pelosi, husband of the president of the United States House of Representatives, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, successfully passed this Friday (10.28.2022) the operation to which he was subjected after being assaulted at his home in San Francisco, California.
Democratic political spokesman Drew Hammill said in a statement that he was operated on for a skull fracture and various serious injuries to his right arm and hands.
“His doctors expect a full recovery,” Hammill said in that note, where he conveyed the family’s gratitude for the signs of solidarity received after the attack, described as “intentional” by the San Francisco Police.
“It was not a casual act. It was intentional. Everyone should be upset about what happened this morning,” City Police Chief William Scott said in a brief speech to reporters.
Paul Pelosi, 82, was attacked when he was in the family home by a man, identified as David Depape, 42, who burst into the house shouting “Where is Nancy?”, although she was not in that time at home.
Depape, who is in police custody, will be charged with attempted murder with a weapon and assault, among other crimes.
The president of the United States, Joe Biden, denounced the aggression and described it as “abominable”.
There is “no place” for political violence in the United States, the president declared during a trip to Philadelphia. “There is too much violence, too much political violence, too much hate,” he said.
