The Angels. Taylor Swift deleted a scene from the music video that accompanies the song Anti-Hero, in which she appeared on a scale that showed the word “fat”, after receiving criticism on the internet that reproached him for a negative use of the term.
The scene, of just a few seconds, was completely deleted from the platform Youtube this Friday, after what Apple Music did on Thursday, although the artist’s team has not commented on the change.
own Swift has described the song and video as a showcase for her “nightmares” and “intrusive thoughts”, since it talks about the weight of fame and how it has sometimes come to feel like a brand instead of a person, given its enormous success and the number of people who work for it.
In the deleted image, two versions of the artist are in a bathroom. One, dressed in finery and with an arrogant attitude, forces the other, in casual clothes and somewhat careless, to weigh herself on a scale that transmits the word “fat” on a screen.
Some viewers of the video, which adds 38 million views on YouTube in just one week since its publication, criticized on social networks that the word “fat” was used with a negative connotation and accused Swift of promoting fatphobia.
The singer, the only woman to have won three Grammy Awards for Album of the Yearhad previously recognized that during a stage he suffered from some type of eating disorder.
In her documentary Miss Americana she explained that when she saw images in which she was not favored or read comments about her physique, her reaction was “go a little hungry or stop eating.”
“My relationship with food was exactly the same psychology that I applied to everything else in my life: if I got a pat on the head, I registered it as good. If I got a punishment, I would record it as bad,” Swift added.
Midnights, the latest album released by the singer last Friday, is a sales phenomenon, having sold more than 1 million copies in its first week.
With the release, Tqylor Swift broke the record for the most streamed artist on Spotify for one day and her song with Lana Del Rey, Snow on the Beach, achieved the best debut for a female collaboration in the history of pop music.
