This space is created with the purpose of honoring and remembering the faithful departed, as well as representing a space in which neighborhood unity stands out.
Among copal fumes, food offeringslit candles, traditional Mexican music, living catrinas, cempasuchil flowers and hundreds of Saltillans who gathered on the steps of Santa Anita, where the emblematic Monumental Altar to Our Faithful Departedon the occasion of Day of the Dead.
In addition to the residents of the Santa Anita neighborhood, the Carolina District, the Carolina University, the Municipal Institute of Culture and the Municipal Government of Saltillo, about 400 local artists in the placement of the offering that was dedicated to all the deceased relatives of the families that live in the neighborhood.

The rector of the Carolina University, Emmanuel Garza Fishburnwelcomed all the visitors and recognized the work carried out, in community, by the residents of the Santa Anita neighborhood.
“This altar is created thanks to the help and participation of many people, overturned hearts for this to be a reality because it has been taking place for several years and it has become a magical corner of our city”, he explained.
“This idea is original to the creator Yvonne Orozco that he shared the idea and that it gained a lot of strength thanks to the workshops that are taught, such as the cardboard workshop by Mayelo and Dina; This activity also helps us to reflect and go to the roots to remember those who are always with us”, he pointed.
In her speech, the director of the Municipal Institute of Culture of Saltillo, Leticia Rodarte Rangelhighlighted some of the activities that will take place within the framework of the Day of the Dead, such as the exhibition of the restored mural of the Monarch Butterfly in the Santos Rojo alley, the intervention of the Plaza Tlaxcala with giant alebrijes, among others 30 activities which will be held at the Casa Purcell Cultural Center and among other spaces in the Historic Center.

In the call for participation, gastronomy students from the Vizcaya University of the Americas in the preparation of the bread of the dead that adorns the steps as an offering for all the deceased.
The inauguration of the monumental altar was also in charge of the director of the Caorlina University, Esteban Garza Fishburn, Maria de Jesus Martinezcoordinator of the Commission for Culture and Rescue of Human Values of the municipality of Saltillo and the representative of residents of the Santa Anita neighborhood, Conchita Hernandez de la Rosa.
