The US launched an investigation after a report revealed last year that military personnel had witnessed 144 UFOs since 2004.

Most of the unidentified flying objects seen in the US in recent years are likely to have come from aerial debris or foreign surveillance aircraft, such as Chinese drones, reported this Friday The New York Times, referring to US officials aware of the matter.

US intelligence agencies and the Pentagon launched an investigation after a report revealed last year that military personnel had observed 144 UFOs since 2004.

Thus, the officials concluded that there is no evidence that they are extraterrestrial objects. According to the informants, most of the unidentified flying objects turned out to be aerial garbage like balloons or intelligence planes.

US Department of Defense spokeswoman Sue Gough stressed that “in many cases, observed phenomena are classified as ‘unidentified’ simply because sensors were unable to collect enough information to make a positive attribution.” “We are working to mitigate these gaps in the future and make sure we have enough data for our analyses,” she noted.

However, several UFO sightings still remain unsolved.

  • In 2021, the only thing the experts could conclude is that in most cases it was “physical objects“, since they were recorded by infrared and electro-optical sensors or radars, in addition to visual perception. However, could not determine the nature of the phenomena.
