Clear 3-0 away win for the team of Thomas Janeschitz, Renan and Felix Kerber (2) scored. Captain William Rodrigues had to be taken to the hospital.

At the FAC in Vienna Floridsdorf, the Dornbirners have now taken the step that coach Thomas Janeschitz had announced for a long time. They finally defeated one of the top teams in the league, and in a commanding manner. “Of course that’s very gratifying,” says the Rothosen coach, “we’ve got 20 points now and the fall season isn’t even over yet.” Sebastian Santin crossed to Renan, and the Brazilian increased his tally to ten with a header, making it 1-0 after just three minutes. “But we were too cautious for the rest of the first half,” said Janeschitz. Shortly before the half-time whistle, goalie Justin Ospelt brilliantly defused a Benjamin Wallquist header and it was to remain the only real FAC chance. Right at the start of the second half, Renan limped off the field injured. “In the last game against Sturm he was hit in the back of the knee and the muscle contracted,” explains Janeschitz. But the greater excitement came in the 60th minute. FAC offensive man Leomend Krasniqi hit Dornbirn captain William Rodrigues with his foot in the face and saw the yellow-red card. William was carried off the pitch on a stretcher and taken to the hospital by the rescue team. “He stepped away for a moment, they checked him out completely,” says Janeschitz, “but his nose and cervical spine are okay, it doesn’t seem to be a concussion either.” Laughing, he adds: “If Willy had had his way, he would have continued playing. “In injury time, substitute Felix Kerber made everything clear with a brace, a well-deserved victory for the Rothosen. “It’s just fun working with them,” says Janeschitz happily, “as a small reward, they now also get two days off.”
