You are currently viewing Zhamnov: you should not focus on the failures of Ovechkin at the start of the NHL season

The head coach of the Russian national hockey team Alexei Zhamnov commented on the game of the Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin at the start of the regular season of the National Hockey League (NHL) season 2022/23.

“The season has just begun. It happens that everyone rolls into the season in different ways. Sometimes things don’t work out in the beginning. You should not focus on the failures of Alexander, ”Zhamnov quotes RBC.

At the same time, he expressed confidence that Ovechkin would definitely begin to show effective hockey.

“I think he will have a good season. The whole “Washington” is also not having a very good start now. Blaming everything on one player, I think, is wrong. There is always a chance for Alexander to break Wayne Gretzky’s record,” Zhamnov added.

Overall utility this season was -8, which is the worst result in the entire league. The Russian scored six points in eight matches (three goals + three passes).

Earlier it was reported that Ovechkin caught up with Phil Esposito in terms of games played in the NHL.
