The husband of US politician Nancy Pelosi has been attacked, according to a spokesman. An assailant broke into the Pelosi’s San Francisco residence on Friday morning and “violently assaulted” 82-year-old Paul Pelosi, spokesman Drew Hammill said on Friday. The Democrat and Chair of the US House of Representatives was not in the city at the time.
The attacker is in custody and the motive for the attack is being investigated. The businessman Pelosi is now receiving medical care in a hospital. He will “probably make a full recovery,” it said. As several US media unanimously report, the man is likely to have to undergo brain surgery due to the severe injuries. The attacker shouted “Where’s Nancy?” several times on Friday night, wrote the “New York Times” and the “Washington Post”, citing officials. The Wall Street Journal reported that the man then hit 82-year-old Paul Pelosi with a hammer. Pelosi is a frequent target of verbal attacks from the political right in America. Ex-President Donald Trump keeps calling her “Crazy Nancy”.
