The plenary session of the National Assembly of #Panama approved in the third debate the General State Budget for the year 2023 for an amount of 27,579,449,552 by 58 votes in favor and four against of the independent deputies.

The independent deputy Edison Broce questioned why the country has such a high budget and we have a nation with streets full of holes and garbage dumps on every corner.

With the fiscal pressure that Panama has, here they are going to create more ministries, new deputy ministries…the recipe is more money with a debt that even our great-great-grandchildren will have to pay, Broce said.

Either they are incapable or they are thieves, demagogues who suffocate the middle class, nationalize jobs, bankrupt the private economy, but with a political class that does not detach itself from its privileges, said Edison Broce.

Meanwhile, the PRD deputy Benicio Robinson countered, alleging that Broce with his aberrations suggests that the people should not be supported with subsidies and now he wants to be mayor.

For his part, Raúl Pineda questioned Broce that in the past government -despite being elected substitute deputy for the Panameñista Party, he left his circuit- he went to Europe with a scholarship achieved with political influence…now he comes to the plenary with “nañecadas”

Deputy Leandro Avila said that the independent deputies are demagogues…no one has proposed to cut their salary in half.

The Budget for 2023 represents an increase of 6.4%, compared to the modified one for this year. The entities had requested that it be $32,985 million, but those aspirations were reduced by $6,239 million.

For the payment of the Public Debt Service, $4,515 million (17%) are allocated, divided into interest payments of $2,366 million and $2,149 million for amortization.

The payroll expense would be $6,836 million, a figure higher by $270 million compared to this year.

Current income is estimated at $17,908 million and capital income at $9,254 million.
