Jerry Lee Lewisan American rock & roll pioneer of the 1950s, He died this Friday at the age of 87. of natural causes, reported his agent.

The musician, born on September 29, 1935 in Ferriday, Louisiana, was famous for his strong stage presence, his dynamic piano rhythms and was instrumental in the development of rock.

In 1956 he participated in Memphis, Tennessee, in a legendary recording with the three greats of rock and country music: Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash. The following year he recorded “Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On”, which along with “Great Balls of Fire”, made him one of the great stars of the moment.

He himself had to undergo detoxification and also had a long hospital stay for a bleeding ulcer.

Lewis’s career was revitalized in the late 1980s with the film Great Balls of Fire!, based on Myra’s memoirs. Dennis Quaid played Lewis, and Winona Ryder played Myra.
