Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko told reporters that Russians who left Russia and are now criticizing the country should not go back, RIA Novosti writes.

Matvienko added that Russian society considers the actions of those who left and “water” their country to “earn their ticket to this new society” a “betrayal”. In her opinion, such people “conscience will bother.”

Also Speaker of the Federation Council spoke against imposing a ban on Russians traveling abroad.

After the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, many Russians left the country from Russia: in the first weeks, tens of thousands of people did this, and after the mobilization announced in September, several hundred thousand (Forbes wrote that, according to a source in the presidential administration of the Russian Federation, from September 21 by October 4, about 600-700 thousand people left Russia; the Kremlin called it a “duck”).
