The hamster buyers strike again! This time it hits Kaufland and an everyday product that is rarely in the bathroom.

The fact that the latest hamster product is slowly but surely missing from the shelves at Kaufland has to do with the currently rising energy prices.

Kaufland: THIS product is bought in bulk

A look at a branch in Neckarsulm is enough to see which product customers are buying most often: tea lights. According to “Echo24”, the cheap candles of this type are already almost sold out and the range of large candles is also shrinking more and more.

The background to the hamster purchases is likely to be the current supply situation in Germany. Experts warn of an impending blackout, i.e. power failure, in winter. Electricity costs are also rising massively at the moment.

More about Kaufland:

  • was founded in 1968 with headquarters in Neckarsulm (Baden-Württemberg).
  • The company operates around 1,300 branches, 667 of which are in Germany, and has around 132,000 employees
  • The chain is also present in Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Croatia and the Republic of Moldova

An emergency list from the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance should then finally have encouraged people to buy candles, as they are listed there as an item that you should always have at home, according to “Echo24”.

Kaufland: candles popular in the dark season

In addition, candles are generally more popular in winter and especially with regard to Christmas than in summer. The lights create a cozy atmosphere and can also be useful in everyday life, for example as a tea cosy.

But there is one thing you shouldn’t do with Kaufland candles or other tea lights: Use a tea light oven for heating. Fire brigades nationwide are already warning of the supposed heating alternative.
