8% unemployment nationwide in the moving quarter July-September is what the National Institute of Statistics (INE) reported this Friday, according to the National Employment Survey.

The figure means a decrease of 0.4 percentage points in one year, although the issuing entity explained that “it does not represent a statistically significant variation.”

This is due to the increase in the labor force (5.5%), lower than that presented by employed persons (6%). On the other hand, unemployed people increased by 1%, noting their first annual expansion after sustained declines since the beginning of 2021.

In other words, unemployment rose from the previous quarter (7.9%) and the economy lost more than 9,000 jobs.
