The Japanese Grand Prix is one of the most special for Checo Pérez, among other aspects, because he can see one of his most popular fans around the world, Eri, who is distinguished by a tricolor kimono.
Thanks to that idolatry for the Mexican pilot, Eri has learned our language and even sings (very well) the Mexican anthem, celebrates the Day of the Dead and worries about us in September because of the earthquakes, however, she could not attend to the 2022 Japanese Grand Prix, in which Checo came in second place.
The message Checo sent to Eri
Eri is undergoing treatment, as she is diagnosed with oromandibular dystonia, so spends a large part of his income on this treatment, which also makes him tiredand thus did not attend the 2022 Japanese Grand Prix.
Therefore, from Mexico we wanted to surprise him Eri. We looked for Checo and managed to get the Mexican Red Bull driver to send him a greeting.
“Eri, greetings and what a pity that you couldn’t be in Japan this year. The number of fans, of flags… that know my country is incredible. I am proud of all the places I have been able to get to thanks to my sport”, Checo told us in an interview.
Eri has gained many fans in Mexico, so they have saturated her twitter account since we told her story in Sopitas and in one of those many messages, we managed to get Checo’s message to her.
“Hey, what a surprise! Thank you very much for greeting me and talking about me. Me too I was very sorry not to be able to go to the Japanese Grand Prix, nor see you because of my illness. I appreciate you listening to me, even though I’m just a common fan. Regards and I support you from the other side of the world”, replied our dear Eri.
The affection that Eri has gained from Mexico has been noted in the messages on twitter: “You are a super woman”. “Eri, sister, you are already Mexican”. “I am very glad that Checo greeted you.”
Eri has interacted a bit with her Mexican fans, still not believing the impact she has generated in our country from Japan. “It is a miracle that they treat me so much because I only wore a kimono in Suzuka”, he shared in one of his comments.
“I was surprised from the morning. He did not believe that the pilots spoke of a certain person. But I am very happy!”
From Japan, Eri will support Checo and we look forward to the 2023 Japanese Grand Prix, hoping that he can meet the Mexican driver again.
