CAN U23 qualifiers: Mali-Rwanda, 2nd round for the 3rd round

Authors of a draw in the first leg played last Saturday, the Aigles Espoirs receive this Saturday, October 29 their counterparts from Rwanda for the account of the return match of the 2e qualifying round of the Africa Cup of Nations under 23. A decisive match for the rest of the playoffs where the winner of Mali-Rwanda will cross swords with that of Burkina-Senegal in 3e round.

It is a decisive match for the rest of the playoffs that the U23 national team of Mali is preparing to deliver against that of Rwanda this Saturday at the Stade du 26-Mars de Bamako (17h GMT). Despite its lead from the away goal in the draw (1-1) of the first leg, the team led by Badra Alou Diallo “Conty” must not rest on its laurels when receiving a Rwandan selection already back against the wall. Hanging on at home, the Amavubi who are forced to reverse the situation will certainly be aggressive against the Malian Aigles Espoirs who can settle for a 0-0 to qualify for 3e and last round. But in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises, our U23s must be enterprising again and show a serenity that they lacked in the match after the equalizer conceded, in the wake of the opener, on a bad appreciation the ball by the goalkeeper.

Although in pole position after this draw with goal, this return meeting remains decisive for Mali en route to a double qualification for the final phase of the Can and the next Olympic Games scheduled for Paris in 2024.

In case of triumph over Rwanda, Mali will face in 3e and last qualifying round the winner between Burkina Faso and Senegal who had left with the score of 0-0 in the first leg.
