Abdoulaye Diop, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mali, spoke on Monday, October 25, 2022 at the 8th Dakar International Forum, on relations between Paris and Bamako. According to him, “Mali has no problem dealing with any partner, including France” if its conditions are respected.

“Mali wanted our sovereignty to be respected, that our strategic choices and our choice of partners be respected, and that the vital interests of Malians be taken into account,” said Abdoulaye Diop during the 8th edition of the Dakar International Forum. on Peace and Security in Africa, held under the theme “Africa put to the test by exogenous shocks: challenges of stability and sovereignty”. For the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mali, “if these elements are observed, Mali has no problem dealing with any partner, including France.”

“What is important is really that our partners come in the spirit of working with us for solutions, not coming to dictate solutions to us,” added Abdoulaye Diop. The minister also recognized flaws in Mali. “We must not anathematize people, we have our own responsibility. We have failed with regard to the integration of the continent, we have failed with regard to the strengthening of cooperation between us, we have failed with regard to our responsibility to ensure our own security and I believe that we cannot assume that others,” said Abdoulaye Diop.
