You are currently viewing Redmi x86: the most surprising thing about Xiaomi’s new 86-inch TV is not its size, it’s its price

We are entering the final phase of the year and the Xiaomi catalog continues to grow. The Asian manufacturer has presented this Wednesday, along with the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 12, Xiaomi Book Air 13 and Xiaomi Redmi Pad, a huge 86-inch television. We are talking about Redmi X86a device that, in addition to its size, stands out for its price.

Xiaomi’s new proposal, which arrives under the Redmi brand, is not part of the manufacturer’s highest range. The Redmi X86, on the other hand, is a television that leaves some features behind, such as Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision and HDR 10+, to be located within the cheapest range, yes, without sacrificing design and screen diagonal.

4K resolution, generous diagonal and thin borders

Let’s start with the screen. The new 86-inch Redmi television is equipped with an LCD panel capable of offering 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. In this section, the manufacturer promises us that the precision with which it reproduces the color is Delta E < 3, so it should solve the colorimetry very precisely.

As we mentioned above, the device has very generous dimensions. It is 1.1 meters high, 1.92 meters from side to side and the width between the legs is 1.69 meters. And it weighs 37 kilos. So the challenge is to find a room in our house that will fit and give us enough visual distance to enjoy it.

The heart of the new Redmi X86 has some elements shared with that of the Xiaomi TV Q2 presented earlier this month, such as the processor Quad-core Cortex A55, Mali G52 MC1 GPU, 2 GB of RAM and the 16 GB of internal storage. Of course, it does not use Google TV as an operating system, but the one promoted by Xiaomi.

At the level of connectivity and ports we have two HDMI ports (with ARC support), AV input, ATV/DTMB decoder, S/PDI audio output, one Ethernet port, one USB 2.0 port and one USB 3.0 port. Also, as expected, we find wireless connectivity in this case WiFI 5.0, Bluetooth 5.0 and infrared port for the controller.
