The supermarket chain Mercadona announced an 11% increase in the entry salary of employees in Portugal in 2023, to 1,034 euros monthly gross, a value that includes the twelfth of the holiday and Christmas allowances.
In total, “Mercadona’s entry salary in Portugal will be 12,410 euros/year”, says the company in a statement.
According to him, “in addition to this increase, employees benefit from the company’s salary progression policy”, which provides for “an 11% annual increase that allows them to reach a salary in the amount of 1,414 euros gross monthly (with twelfths) for a maximum of four years of seniority”.
“Additionally, they also receive an annual bonus for objectives that corresponds to an extra salary in the first four years and two extra salaries in the following years”, he adds.
Cited in the statement, the person in charge of ‘Benefits and Compensations’ in Portugal, Hugo Pilar, says that “Mercadona intends to continue to grow in Portugal”, with the objective of “promote competitive working conditionsboth economically and in terms of conciliation or professional development”.
“To be able to offer an excellent service to the customer, the company has to count on quality human resources, which implies investing in people and offering conditions that satisfy and motivate them to carry out their work in the best possible way”, he maintains.
