It all started around 4:30 p.m. at the Avia gas station on Prioreier Strasse in Hagen. There, the stranger refueled his Audi and drove away without paying. A saleswoman called the police and gave the number plate of the tank fraudster.
An hour later, a motorcycle police officer discovered the wanted – and stolen getaway car – in the Dahl district. When the Audi driver saw the officer, he stepped on the gas pedal. The man raced over the B54 in the direction of the city center, sometimes at high speed.
