The national senator for Jujuy of the Front of All, William Snopeckcelebrated this Friday the half sanction achieved in the Upper House of the expansion of the number of members of the Supreme Court of Justice, with last minute changes that ended bringing the final number of magistrates from 25 to 15.
The result ended up giving 36 affirmative votes and 33 against. Together for Change, meanwhile, not only voted against, but at the beginning did not give a quorum either. Despite internal and external resistance, the Frente de Todos managed to score a victory. The initiative will now be discussed in the Chamber of Deputieswhere the chances of it being approved are rather remote.
“It was important to get to the debate in the venue after six months of putting it on the agenda. There were four plenary sessions of the two commissions that worked on the subject, 19 exhibitors and the visit of governors”, he highlighted. Snopeck.
At the same time, he questioned the role of the opposition: “During the discussion they manifested the absence, the absence is silence and the silence is to say that they do not get involved in this issue”.
In addition, he considered that on the part of the bloc of together for him Change “There was a mixture of political foundations more than the discussion about the functioning of the Court.” And he clarified: “We have a Court that does not see the development of the border provinces. Of four members, there are two from Santa Fe, a province that has a justice that is highly questioned.”
While, Snopeck warned that, if the regulations are approved, the appointment of judges will require a two-thirds majority of the votes of the members of the Chamber, so it will force a search for consensus and joint work between the blocks.
“I heard several statements from opposition senators where they emphasized the same shortcomings of Justice, but there was no solution proposed. They wanted to question the need and the moment. Our responsibility is with the citizens who have an uneasiness in the last spring where they are going to claim for their rights, ”he concluded.
