Four deputies of the State Duma of Russia from the United Russia party asked to be sent to serve in the zone “special operations” in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Andrey Turchak, Secretary of the General Council of United Russia, spoke about the statements of the parliamentarians.
Among those who asked to go to war were Dmitry Khubezov, chairman of the Duma health protection committee, Dmitry Sablin, deputy chairman of the defense committee, Vitaly Milonov, deputy chairman of the family committee, and Sergei Sokol, deputy chairman of the economic policy committee.
According to Turchak, the applications of the deputies will be considered by the RF Ministry of Defense. He noted that Khubezov, Sablin and Milonov have been working in the Donbas since the beginning of the war.
Since September 21, mobilization has been announced in Russia. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation plans to call up 300,000 people to the war in Ukraine.
The co-author of the amendments on the introduction of the concepts of “mobilization” and “martial law” into the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, State Duma deputy Dmitry Vyatkin said that parliamentarians cannot go to the front, because behind them are “citizens” to whom they must “convey the criticality of the current situation.”
In turn, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin notedthat deputies are not booked from mobilization for war. He cited the example of several parliamentarians already fighting in Ukraine, including Chechen MP Adam Delimkhanov, who leads volunteers from the republic. According to Volodin, parliamentarians who meet the requirements for mobilization should participate in a “special operation.”
Will mobilization help?
