An old quarrel between students of the Rufo Garay school yesterday caused a shootout inside the campus with the result of a 15-year-old student dead and two others injured, one of them – a relative of the victim – is in a delicate state.
The violent act was recorded yesterday at 3:00 pm in the middle of a student fair in the parking area of the school in the city of Colón.
It transpired that among the injured there is a girl. Images of one of those involved showing a mini Uzis were spread on social networks.
Hours later, the National Police managed to apprehend the student suspected of shooting. The capture took place in an apartment in the H 60 building in Alto de los Lagos. The student only asked permission to bathe before being led away; he then came out in a white sweater and patterned shorts.
The director of the National Police, John Omar Dornheim, stated that in this case there may be a link to gang activity or another element, which will be the subject of an investigation, noting that the fact demonstrates the disintegration of the family, and it is regrettable, at the same time that he said that this should call parents to reflection to supervise their children. We can fill the entire city with police, but it is a shared responsibility, the family, the community, society and security agencies, he added.
