Graz – Friday, September 23, 2022, 4:55 p.m
On Friday, SK Sturm Graz celebrated a clear 5:1 (4:0) friendly win over the Slovenian champions NK Maribor.
The Ilzer squad laid the foundation for success with a furious four minutes of play. In minute 21 Dominik Oroz is in the right place after a corner and heads in to make it 1-0. Just a few moments later, Graz launched the next attack, which William Böving (22nd) also headed off to make it 2-0.
The conclusion is Alexandar Borkovic (25th), who uses a rebound after a free kick. In the 37th minute, the “Blackies” were awarded a penalty, which Otar Kiteishvili (37./E) converted to his first goal since his comeback – 4:0.
After that, the fair is read, and the 1:4 by Maribor’s Rok Sirk, who scores from the penalty spot, doesn’t change that. Because Christoph Lang (81st) makes the 5-1 final score.
Managing Director Sport Andreas Schicker is satisfied: “It was important for us to use the international break as well as possible and to give our players – especially those who haven’t played that much recently – time under competitive conditions. I have a very good test against one international opponents in which we were dominant and rewarded ourselves with some very nice goals. Now the players deserve a weekend off to recharge their batteries and gather strength for the weeks to come.”
Klagenfurt and Hartberg also win
Austria Klagenfurt gives the GAK no chance with 6: 2 (2: 1).
Jonas Arweiler (46′, 50′) and Florian Rieder (53′, 82′) score twice for Klagenfurt, and Christopher Wernitznig (22′) and Andy Irving (45′) can jubilantly turn away. Thorsten Schriebl (14th) and Levan Eloshvili (78th) scored the goals for the “Red Jackets”.
TSV Hartberg beat First Vienna FC 1-0 thanks to Jakob Knollmüller’s goal (38′).
