Napoli are not allowed to wear Maradona shirts

Vienna – Friday, September 23, 2022, 4:25 p.m

Napoli will no longer be allowed to wear shirts featuring club legend Diego Armando Maradona.

The late Argentine’s children won a legal battle against the Serie A club. According to the Italian “La Reppublica”, Maradona’s family never agreed that the icon’s face should be shown on the jerseys.

On the other hand, there is said to have been an agreement between the club and Stefano Ceci, Maradona’s former manager. The two parties agreed a deal worth the equivalent of €23,000 to have Maradona’s face portrayed on the special-edition kits.

Even if it was intended as a nice gesture, Napoli may have to pay for this action. With the sale of the Leiberl, the Serie A club made a profit of around 450,000 euros. The children of the Argentine legend want to claim this money for themselves.
