Messi leads with game and goals to an Argentina that excites

Argentina defeated Honduras 3-0 this Friday with an exhibition by Leo Messi, who scored two goals at a party for the Albiceleste fans in Miami (USA).

Lionel Scaloni’s team maintained their usual line showing a very showy game and dominating from start to finish with Messi in his role as leader.

The French PSG player was the main playmaker and signed two goals: one from a penalty and the other from a beautiful bill.

Scaloni complied with what was advanced in the press room, forming a starting eleven with the base of players that will lead the albiceleste in Qatar 2022 but also with some novelties.

Among those less common names appeared Gerónimo Rulli in goal, Germán Pezzella in defense and Papu Gómez in midfield.

The two above are indisputable and, except for an unexpected accident, they will always be Messi and Lautaro Martínez.

In the second part, two of the young people called to take over from this generation stood out, such as Julián Álvarez and Enzo Fernández, who showed great associative capacity with Messi and the rest of his teammates.

Argentina commanded from the beginning, with an associative game between their lines and forcing Honduras to run after the ball.

Thus, Argentina, without verticality at the beginning, generated their first goalscoring chances by long shots from Papu Gómez and Rodrigo De Paul that were lost far from the three posts.

The fact that Honduras put Héctor Enrique Castellanos to chase Messi all over the field with an individualized marking had a lot to do with it, since they somewhat avoided Argentina’s creativity.

We had to wait until ten minutes into the game for Messi to put his team to play, mounting an attack towards the right side from which a good ball arrived for Papu Gómez’s shot, which went wide when hitting a Honduran defender.

Honduras was contemplative, more concerned with not getting dislodged or confused in defense than with attacking, alternating positional defenses with some timid pressure from the front line. But in the fifteenth minute came a great move from Albiceleste.

Once again Messi, as a pitcher and game generator, found the internment in the Papu Gómez area with a high ball, which he left first to his right for a Lautaro Martínez who also defined it at the first touch.

There are already 21 goals for Lautaro Martínez with the national team, the same as Leo Messi since Scaloni became coach.

Honduras stepped into the area, for the first time with the ball, just after the goal received, but Rommel Quioto was unable to solve that small defensive mistake by the Argentines.

The game got dirty in the final stretch of the first half with several actions by both teams that led to clashes on the pitch and the first yellow cards.
The strongest of them was a blow from Flores with his shoulder on the face of Leo Messi.

Just before the final whistle of the first half, Messi extended the advantage by converting a penalty that he himself had generated. He defined from eleven meters very calmly and beating Luis Aurelio López low. Already in the resumption, Messi sealed his brace with a great goal.

Enzo Fernández, one of the fans most demanding to go to the World Cup, recovered the ball and left it for the captain, who, face to face with the Honduran goalkeeper, defined it with a subtle touch that passed the ball over the goalkeeper.

It was not the only display of quality by Enzo Fernández, as the Benfica player also hit the post with a shot from outside the area that brought the thousands of Argentines present to their feet.

Luis Aurelio López showed off to avoid a bigger win since the final 3-0 did not fully reflect Argentina’s superiority.

The match ended with some stands that refused to empty while applauding the lap of honor given by the Argentine internationals as a sign of gratitude for the great atmosphere lived in the Hard Rock Stadium.
